Privacy Policy — Daampatyam
Last updated: August 2026
Daampatyam ("the app", "we", "us") is a relationship-journaling app for couples. This page explains what data the app collects, how it's stored, and how you can control it.
The short version: your journal entries, photos, voice notes, and partner details are encrypted on your device with a passphrase only you know, before they're ever sent anywhere. We cannot read your content — not from our database, not on request, not ever.
1. Information we collect
If you use Guest Mode, nothing leaves your device — all data stays in local browser storage.
If you create an account, we collect:
- Email address and password — used solely to authenticate you and sync your data across your devices. Password is handled by our authentication provider (Supabase Auth) and is never visible to us in plain text.
- Your app content (journal entries/"chapters", partner profile details, mood logs, notes, to-dos, promises, bucket list, reminders) — this is end-to-end encrypted on your device using a passphrase you choose, before it is ever uploaded. We store only the encrypted, unreadable ciphertext.
- Optional feedback — a star rating and optional comment you choose to submit, along with a random device identifier (not linked to your identity).
2. What we can and cannot access
Your passphrase is never transmitted or stored anywhere — not even by us. This means:
- We cannot read your journal entries, photos, voice notes, or partner details, under any circumstances.
- If you forget your passphrase and your 12-word recovery phrase, that content cannot be recovered by anyone, including us.
3. How data is stored
Encrypted account data is stored using Supabase (a hosted database provider), protected by row-level security rules so each account can only ever access its own data.
4. Data sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers or third parties. We do not run ads in this app. The only third-party services involved are Supabase (data storage/authentication) and Google Fonts (for typography), neither of which receive your journal content.
5. Your controls
- Export your data at any time as an encrypted backup file, from within the app.
- Delete your account and data by contacting us at the email below — we will permanently delete your account's stored data upon request.
- Guest Mode lets you use the app without creating an account at all.
6. Children's privacy
Daampatyam is intended for adult couples and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
7. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
